January is School Board Appreciation Month. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the dedicated individuals who lead our district. Their commitment to excellence ensures our students have the resources and support they need to succeed every single day. If you see one of these individuals out and about, be sure to thank them for their hard work!

School Board appreciation post
Jonesville high schoolers Julia Mandrelle and Harper James came into the middle school on Friday, January 9th as members of the Hillsdale County Community Foundation YOUTH. The YOUTH Board’s January campaign is the promotion of one of their new slogans: New Year; New YOU! Harper and Julia set up a table during the three different lunches with a poster that had the slogan on it. Students "signed” this poster by putting their handprint in paint on it. Their handprint symbolized their new year’s pledge to living a healthy life and promoting healthy habits. Each student who signed the pledge then received a keychain that was provided by the YOUTH Board. In doing this, the YOUTH Board helped promote healthy living for these students in the new year and advocated against negative habits. The posters were then hung in the school so that the students will remember their promise and try their best to have a healthy new year.

State Tournament updates for fall sports:

The varsity football team travels to Bronson today, October 31, for a 7:00pm showdown. Per MHSAA guidelines, all tickets must be purchased through GoFan.co and no passes of any kind are allowed. Visitor seating is limited, so feel free to bring lawn chairs. The field is not very handicap accessible. If you know of a spectator who needs accommodations, Bronson can allow them to park inside the complex. Please have someone notify the Bronson athletic director of their arrival, and they will ensure they are let in. Artificial noisemakers are NOT allowed.

The State Finals for boys and girls cross country are tomorrow, November 1, at MIS Saturday. Girls D3 run at 10:10, boys at 11:30. Entrance opens at 7:30. Tickets are $11 per person though GoFan.co. Parking is included in that price.

The volleyball team will be competing in the District tournament at Hillsdale High School next week. On Monday, November 3, the girls will play Hillsdale at 5:00. With a Monday victory, they would play on Wednesday, November 5, at 5:00 against Hanover-Horton. A victory over Hanover-Horton would place us into the finals on Friday, November 7, at 6:00. Per MHSAA guidelines, no passes are allowed and ticket must be purchased through GoFan.co.

Good luck to all teams!

Go Comets!
