
Athletic update for Sunday, February 22:
On Friday, the competitive cheer team traveled to Addison to participate in the MHSAA District #20. The Comets placed fourth to advance to the regional competition. The MHSAA Regional will take place on Saturday, Feb 28, at Novi high school at 3:00.
The bowling teams competed at the MHSAA D4 Individual Tournament on Saturday at JAX60. The teams had three girls and three boys advance to the MHSAA State Finals on Saturday, Feb 28, at Skore Lanes in Taylor. For the girls, junior Harper James was 3rd, sophomore Morgan Dilyard was 4th and freshman Karli Wittingen was 5th. For the boys, senior Kyle Covey was 2nd, senior Marshall Baker was 5th and sophomore Maverick Baker was 6th.
On Saturday, the wrestling team took senior Blake Ryan, junior Noah Knepfler, sophomore Max Young and freshman Briggs Baker to compete at the MHSAA D4 Individual Regional at Martin high school. At the end of the day, it was Blake Ryan placing 4th to qualify for the MHSAA Individual State Finals at Ford Field, March 6-7.
The girls basketball MHSAA D3 district bracket was finalized this morning for March 2-4-6 . The Comets will compete at Quincy high school. Other teams in the district include Hudson, Quincy, Homer and Hillsdale. The team earned a bye for March 2 and will play on March 4 at 7:00 against Homer. The championship game will take place on March 6 at 7:00.
The varsity boys basketball district will take place February 23, 25, 27 at Hillsdale high school. Jonesville is the #1 seed and will receive a bye for the first round and will play on Wednesday, Feb 25, at 5:30 against the winner of the Hudson-Addison game. The championship game will be Feb 27 at 7:00.
Per MHSAA guidelines, all tickets for all state tournament dates must be purchased through GoFan. No passes are allowed and cash is not accepted.

It has been an outstanding season to date for Coach Molinaro, Coach Sackett, Coach Davis and the members of the girls and boys team!
The girls team is currently ranked #2 in the MHSAA D4 poll. The team won the Cascades Conference Championship last weekend heading into today's MHSAA Team Regional Tournament at JAX60. When today's bowling was completed, the Comets were the champions! They will head to Skore Lanes in Taylor on Feb 27 to seek the D4 State Team Title. The Individual Regional Tournament takes place tomorrow at JAX60 with bowling starting at 9:00am.

Mrs. Woodruff's grant will send students to Camp Michindoh for a spring experience. This is a PBIS reward for positive behavior in middle school students.

The MHSAA post season tournaments are in full swing moving forward.
The wrestling team had four of its wrestlers advance from last Saturday's Individual District tournament to this Saturday's Individual Regional tournament at Martin High School. The meeting will start out with a quick review of the athletic handbook and certain points of emphasis. The athletic handbook will need to be signed by any student athlete that did not participate in a fall or winter sport and a parent/guardian by the end of their first week of practice. The athletic trainer will also be there to discuss the protocols and procedures that need to be followed. We will finish up with each athlete attending a sport specific meeting with the coaching staff of that sport to go over program expectations and hand out schedules.
A completed physical must be on file in the athletic office for any person looking to participate on a team by the first day of practices.

The high school offers the following MHSAA spring sports - baseball, softball, boys golf, girls soccer, boys track, girls track. They also offer a club sport - trap.

The middle school girls basketball games at East Jackson for today have a change. Instead of the normal 7th-8th grade doubleheader, there will only be a 7th grade game that starts at 5:00(bus departure of 3:45).
The MHSAA post season tournament have arrived.
The wrestling team travels to Reading tonight for their team district. The event starts at 6:00. The first match has Homer taking on Camden. We take on Reading in the second match. The two winners will wrestle in the third match for the championship. Per MHSAA guidelines, no passes are accepted and tickets need to be purchased through GoFan. The wrestling individual districts are on Saturday, February 14, at Union City with a start time of 9:30.
The bowling teams have their Cascades Conference tournaments this week end at JAX60. Saturday is the JV singles and varsity team competitions. Sunday is the varsity individual competition, Bowling starts at 9:00 each day. Their team regionals will be on Feb 20 and the individual regionals will be on Feb 21, both at JAX60.
