Jonesville varsity cross country teams competed Friday at arguably the toughest region for Division 3 in the state. The girls side contained 2 of the top 7 teams, and the boys had 3 of the top 9 teams, with the #1 ranked team, Lumen Christi in them.

The Lady Comets put forth a great effort, but fell short of qualifying as a team, placing 4th. 2 girls were All-Region (top 15), and 3 qualified for the State Finals. Keira Knight placed 13th with a PR of 20:57. Teammate Brynleigh Griffiths was 14th (21:07). Joleane Gulledge was an additional State qualifier, placing 16th with a PR of 21:09. Mia Langhann had a PR of 22:21, placing 37th. Addy Horton also PR’d, placing 42nd in 22:36. Sophia Morgan ran a PR for 54th (23:08). Alexa Moore was 69th (24:06).

On the boy’s side it was a dogfight. 6 points separated 3rd from 1st place. The Comet boys finished 3rd, qualifying for the fourth year in a row as a team to the State Finals with Coach Snyder and Coach Copp at the helm. 4 runners were all region (top 15). Leading the charge was junior Caleb Blonde, who conquered the course in 15:50, becoming Regional Champion. Nick Fowler was 7th (16:26), Collin Fucile 8th (16:29), Ashton Potwin 15th (16:51). Briggs Baker 41st (18:11). Jake Gray was 50th (18:30). Eli Norman 69th (19:04).

The State Finals are at MIS Saturday, November 1st. Girls D3 run at 10:10, boys at 11:30. Entrance opens at 7:30. Tickets are $11 per person though GoFan.co. Parking is included in that price.

Today is the day and the weather will be beautiful!

Today, Friday, October 17, marks the end of an era for Jonesville football. The Comets will play their last varsity regular season game on our current field against Vandercook Lake. The current field is close to 75 years old.

It will be Senior night for our band, cross country teams, sideline cheer team and football team with those introductions taking place before the game at 6:30. Parents - please meet in the southeast corner of the field at 6:20 to get lined up. At halftime, the band will play their halftime show. Following that, we will have the Patricia Krohn Memorial Award presentation. After that presentation, we will honor longtime varsity football coach Greg Morrison on his induction into the Michigan Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame this past summer. We are asking anyone who played or coached with Coach Morrison to join him and his family on the field for the presentation. Former players and coaches - please meet inside the fence at the south endzone.
