Jonesville Mission will be holding their food distribution tomorrow (Friday, 1/14/22) at Carl Fast park from 4:00-5:00 pm. All families are welcome! This food distribution will be held every second Friday of each month. Thank you to Jonesville Mission for providing this!
It's school board appreciation month and Jonesville Community Schools would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to our school board members for their service to the district. I can honestly say, we have a school board who cares deeply about the staff and students. We are very fortunate. Jonesville Community Schools sends its condolences to Oxford Schools for the tragedy they suffered. There are no words that can take away the pain and hurt to those who lost loved ones and the injured.
After tragedies such as this, it’s normal to try to find out the “why” . Unfortunately, there isn’t always one clear answer. What I do know is, we can all check in on our family and friends. If someone is hurting please let someone know. Tell a teacher, principal, family member etc know because it truly does take a community.
The Comet community extends its thoughts and prayers to Oxford Schools.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Mandrelle and her 6th Graders!!! We are very proud of you all.
One of the people from the original Shark Tank food truck proposal, Cousins Maine Lobster, heard about our project from the last trimester.
They loved our project so much that one of the “cousins” made us a video to encourage us to continue to do our best. I showed it in class today and the kids loved it so much. I wanted to share it with you as well. We were happy they took the time to share with us!

Here is the 8th grade Quiz Bowl team who took 1st place!
On Saturday, our 7th and 8th grade quiz bowl teams travelled to Springport to compete in the Big 8 competition. We had two teams from each grade, and Jonesville was able to snag a first place trophy in BOTH competitions!
The 7th grade team of Brant, Julia, Harper, and Colton came in first place. The 8th grade team of Brookie, Molly, Grant, and Marshall also squeaked out a first place win in a tiebreaker round where they scored one more point than Springport’s 8th grade team. Congratulations!

The 8th grade team is Kami, Mason, Joey, and Lucas.
At the Big 8 Quizbowl our JV (Freshman/Sophomore) took 1st place and our Varsity (Junior/Senior) took 2nd place. The 7th grade team took 1st place and so did the 8th grade team! Great job to our Comet competitors! Go Comets!!!!
We have been working on a basic small business plan based off of the show “Shark Tank.” The students set up for food truck by researching various costs such as ingredients, equipment, trucks, etc They also had to determine cost, customer price, profit for their meals. They all made wonderful presentations to our “sharks” of Jonesville. It was great seeing how the kids responded under pressure.
Thank you to our “sharks,” Mrs Packer (our instructional assistant), Mr. Kennard (our principal), Mr. Weatherwax (our superintendent), Mr. Babcock (our local businessman), and Ms. Nunez (our school counselor). They were a great audience who asked great questions that challenged our students to think deeper!
The final winning group was “Bussin Burger” created by Landon, Bryce, and Sam. They had the most sound business plan.
