I want to thank all the people who have taken time to complete the facility assessment survey! We have had a pretty good response but we could use more. Here is the link to complete it: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DRH9JSC. It's also on our jonesvilleschools.com webpage. You can also find the results of the facility assessment there too. Thank you and go Comets!!!

Even 4th graders can help their community! During an ELA unit, students brainstormed ideas to assist their community. They chose the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. “Warm Their Souls (Soles). We have a treasure trove of donations! Items like fuzzy socks, blankets, chapstick and lotion. Students also made Christmas cards and ornaments to donate to each resident. Our generous 4th graders and their families know that it is so much more rewarding to give than to receive. Comet Pride, community wide!

From Williams Elementary: Mrs. Snyder's 3rd grade class participated in a STEM challenge from author Sandra Markle with the help from Mrs. Warner. The kids completed a mystery spot challenge to figure out what colors make up the color black. They used chromatography to create art! They were able to discover that black was made up of MANY other colors. Because of their hard work the students were entered into a competition and they WON! Sandra Markle sent the class a gift in the mail to celebrate their success.

From Williams Elementary School: Today students in grades 4 & 5 were treated to live opera music during lunch! Two students from Hillsdale College who are studying music presented a lunchtime performance, including songs from 3 different operas. The students were impressed by the number of languages that the singers could sing in, along with their vocal ranges.

If you go to page 15 on the assessment it gives you cliffs notes and key (P1, P2, etc.) for the entire assessment. The following pages provide detail. I will be sending out a survey some time next week to get your feedback on what you all see as priorities. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Good evening Comet families! I’m reaching out to you tonight to let you know that school will resume tomorrow, Thursday the 17th. JCS was fortunate that some of the systems we utilize were/are separate from the Jackson County ISD. We will continue to monitor diligently though. I thank you for your patience and look forward to seeing staff and students tomorrow. Go Comets! Erik Weatherwax Superintendent, Jonesville Community Schools
