JMS VIRTUAL STUDENTS

We hope that you have enjoyed your summer and that you are ready to start school again!

This is a notice for all students/parents who chose our virtual option.  You should have received an email on 8/31/20 around 3:30 with this information as well.  If you did not, please contact the JMS office at 517-849-3210 to make sure your email/phone number is correct in our system.

Our records indicate that you are signed up for Virtual School. Your teachers/ monitors for the 2020-2021 school year will be Mrs. Eyre and Mrs. Zorn.  Each of them will watch over your online performance, progress, and will be grading parts of your work.  You will be using a learning platform called Courseware from Edmentum.  The subjects you will learn are ELA (English Language Arts), Math, Science, and Social Studies, plus one enhancement course.  You will use your school provided Chromebook (or another device from home) to do your online learning program.  You will spend 4-6 hours a day doing “school”, not including any breaks or lunch time.  You can start as early as 7:00 am, but must be finished each day by 7:00 pm.  You will learn on a digital platform. The materials needed are: your Chromebook and charger, wifi accessibility, 4 lined paper notebooks, pencils and/or pens. A printer is optional, but helpful.

Parents, if your child is in grades 7-8, they should already have a Chromebook.  If not, please email LKennard@Jonesvilleschools.org as soon as possible and let him know the name of your child.  6th Graders have not had a Chromebook issued to them yet, but will get one on Thursday (see below).  There are forms that will need to be completed for this school year, they will be posted on the websites, or available Thursday, September 3, any time between 4-7 pm in the front of Jonesville Pathways building, located behind the Middle School (the east door facing the football field). We will have things set up outside. Once there, you will need to sign a form for the State of Michigan saying that you are using our virtual online learning option, fill out a contact form, pay the $20 device insurance, and get your envelope with your student’s login and password information.  After this, your student will be all ready to get started.  Should you have any questions or concerns, you should reach out to your student’s online teacher/monitor, Mrs. Char Zorn, czorn@jonesvilleschools.org or Mrs. Cristina Eyre, ceyre@jonesvilleschools.org

As this is new for all of us, we ask that you please be patient with us as we are still learning how to navigate this new virtual learning for more students. More detailed information will be shared as we receive it.
